Aalborg MC

Type

Carbon steel shell and tube heat coolers with U-tube bundle.

Tubes in Cunifer 90/10 or 70/30 material. Tube sheet in aluminium bronze.
Tube side, wetted carbon steel parts coated with fusion bonded epoxy.

Configuration, shell side single-pass, tube side 2-pass.
Also available as insert/immersion heater. Can be mounted vertically or horizontally as required.

Size

Aalborg MC (formerly VESTA™ MC) series heaters range from Ø100 mm to Ø400 mm shells; standard pipe bundles from 600 mm to 2,000 mm. Other lengths available upon request.
Shell-side nozzles according to EN 1092-1, JIS 16K or ANSI 150.
Pipe-side nozzles according to EN 1092-1, JIS 16K or ANSI 150.
All customized to individual customer requirements.

Capacity

The heat load depends on the fluids and their conditions on each side of the heater.
Standard conditions is 13 bar g and 300°C on the shell side, respectively 100°C on the pipe side.
The medium is usually seawater on the pipe side and commonly condensation oil or diesel oil on the shell side.
Every heater is carefully matched using the latest models from Heat Transfer Institute Software Inc. Navasota US also known as HTRI.

Applications

The Aalborg C series coolers have traditionally been used as oil coolers or steam dump condensers, in ship installations. Other applications available upon request.

Fluids

The target fluids are: on the shell side, steam condensate or fuel oil; on the pipe side, seawater.

Equipment

The standard shell is fitted with three ½ inch sockets for mounting of safety valve, drain valve, air vent valve, temperature sensor or pressure sensor.

More sockets can be arranged if required.
Vent valve, drain valve or safety valve can be loosely supplied when needed.

Approvals

The Aalborg MC series is approved by ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, KR, LRS, NKK RINA and RMRS.

Delivery

Alfa Laval Aalborg can deliver any standard Aalborg MC series heat exchanger within 6 weeks from receipt of order on FCA Aalborg basis.

Warranty

Alfa Laval Aalborg offers 12 months operating warranty on heat exchangers; maximum warranty is 18 months from time of delivery.
